Kawaguchiya Kinosaki Riverside Hotel Origin
Kinosaki Onsen is one of the most famous hot spring resorts in the Kansai region, boasting a history of approximately 1,300 years. Surrounded on three sides by the majestic Maruyama River, the mother river of Tajima, and by lush mountains, the town is lined with willow trees along the Oyajigawa River that runs through the center of the town, and three-story wooden inns stand side by side, all dressed in yukata and echoing with the sound of koma-geta, the famous seven-bath tour. In the early 10th century [Kokin Waka Shu], "Tajima no kuni no yuhe makari kuru toki" was one of the 1,200 poems written by Fujiwara Kanezuke (877-933), a representative poet of the Heian period. In the olden days, the lower reaches of the Otani River flowing through Kinosaki Onsen were swamps, and Bentenzan was like a small island floating in the marsh. It is said that the ancestors of the hotel lived in Kinosaki (near today's Yakushi Bridge) in those days under the trade name of Kawaguchiya Jinyemon.
